Seung Kataii is a refugee from Laos who grew up in the United States. His book is more than just a collection of items; it is a heartfelt tribute to his story and the cultural heritage he cherishes. It reflects elements of his family's journey and the religious traditions embraced by all Khon Lao.

Nearly fifty years since the Lao American diaspora began, Seung recognizes the ongoing challenges of cultural adjustments and educational barriers. Many younger Lao Americans may not speak the Lao language or fully understand their rich traditions. Through his work, Seung aims to inspire learning, curiosity, respect, and pride in these ancestral traditions, preserving the essence of Lao Culture and Theravada Buddhism for future generations.
